Scottish Fleet of the Year 2018

Local Company Wins Top Industry Award

J Richardson Transport lifted the Scottish Fleet of the Year title at the annual Transport News Scottish Rewards presentation ceremony held in Glasgow on Friday 10 November.

The popular breakfast celebration, now in its 24th year attracted 600 road haulage industry guests and filled the banqueting suite of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The 2018 Scottish Fleet of the Year winner Founded in 1967 by John Richardson. He started not with one truck but with six, delivering fertiliser and animal feed to farming communities in rural south west Scotland.

During the 1980s his son Alan joined the business and the fleet doubled in size as it took on more work, and he has since been joined by his son, Alan Junior, to take the business forward.

Now, in its 50th year, the company has built a reputation for being loyal to its customers and employees, and unafraid of embracing innovation to get the job done. An example is being one of the first UK companies to use a Moffett Mounty forklift to deliver to farms.
